There is no need to strain this, the spices are good for you! I liked this hot or cold. Make sure to cool this so when the hot tea is poured over ice, it doesn't crack the glass if serving as an iced beverage!-20 May 2015

I make this all the time in the cold months with fresh organic Turmeric and Ginger. I also use organic lemon wedge and raw honey. Reducing the toxins while receiving the full benefits of the tea.-31 Dec 2015

A very nice soothing tea. I think i would cut back on the turmeric and cinnamon next time as i found them a bit overpowering. I used maple syrup and added an extra teaspoon to balance the flavor.As it cools it is quite tasty and i will make this again. Thank you nascarrunner71 for the recipe.-19 May 2015

How to make a Flu Fighting Tea

Add a generous tablespoon of honey to the bottom of a mug or snifter.

Prepare a serving of hot tea according to directions on package and pour into glass over honey. Stir to dissolve.

We used an herbal tea that contained turmeric, but if you’re using a regular black tea, you can add a pinch of the spice to your drink with the honey.

Squeeze one wedge of lemon into mug and stir. Drop crystalized ginger to the bottom of the glass and allow to dissolve slowly as you enjoy your drink.

There is hardly a recipe here. All you have to do is to place the chopped ginger and turmeric into a small saucepan, add in a few slices of lemon, cover it with water and bring it to a boil. Once boiled, strain through a strainer and serve with a slice of lemon.

The amount of ginger and turmeric you use totally depends on your preference. If you like it strong, use more and vice versa. I only used a few slices of lemon, but you can add in more if you prefer.

I like my Turmeric Ginger Tea just by itself, but my husband prefers it with some honey. If we have leftovers, I placed it in a jar, keep it in the fridge to enjoy the next day as a cold beverage.

Drink this tea at least once or twice a day. Try not to drink it more than three times in a day.

Ginger Turmeric Tea

Apparently, it's hot tea month (yay for food holidays!)

But for me, it's always hot tea month. Always!

I drink at least 4 to 6 cups of tea a day. No lie.

I start my day with a cup or two of white tea. Then have a cup of an herbal tea around lunchtime. Tea time is between 3 and 5 with my afternoon snack. Then I have at least one cup of herbal tea before bed.

When I tell you there are a minimum of 300 servings of tea in my apartment, I am not even a little bit exaggerating. In fact, I'm underreporting the amount of tea I have on hand. (I bought a few of those boxes from 100 count boxes from Costco, and I like options, ya know. )

Even when it's hot outside, you better believe there will be a cup of tea next to me as I work, cook, watch tv, whatever.

To me, tea is not only delicious, it's therapeutic and calming plus, it's a great way to stay hydrated (as long as you're not drinking a ton of super caffeinated teas).

I've never been a huge fan of plain water, but I know how important it is to hydrate.

I've also always been really sensitive to caffeine, so I love that tea has much less caffeine than coffee.

After vowing not to get sick this year (after a week of not having my voice in November), I have been researching and doing everything I can to keep my immune system in tip top shape.

Yesterday, I shared a few of my favorite items that I consume to keep my immune system booming, and I bet you can probably guess that tea is on that list.

Spices, namely turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and pepper, are also on that list. All those spices work to keep your immune system running. Turmeric has been shown to fight inflammation. Ginger aids in digestion, and cinnamon is antimicrobial.

You need black pepper to help absorb the curcumin, the compound responsible for turmeric's anti-inflammatory powers. And cayenne pepper can help with congestion.

Pair all these spices together with some black tea and you have magic. Ok, wait. Not magic just yet. Because if you take a sip of this tea, you will want to spit it out because it's spicy. It needs something sweet to balance out that spiciness!
